Power couple Beyoncé and JAY-Z are set to receive the Vanguard Award at the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards.
The Vanguard Award was previously awarded to Janet Jackson and Demi Lovato, among others. The award recognizes LGBTQ allies who push for equality for all people.
GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said both Beyoncé and JAY-Z are “passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people.”
JAY-Z notably featured his mother’s coming out story in the video for his single “Smile”, from the 2017 album 4:44.
The GLAAD Media Awards will take place across two separate ceremonies – on March 28 in L.A. and on May 4 in New York.

Jordan Peele held several screenings of his new film, Us, for black journalists in New York, L.A., and Atlanta. The screenings were dubbed #UsFirst. Next up, Peele will host an exclusive screening of the film on March 20 at Howard University.
Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook talk show Red Table Talk has been renewed for a second season. The 20-episode run will start in May. The show has become Facebook Watch’s runaway hit.
