Rihanna Inks Historic Fashion Deal – The Color Brief January 21
On Friday, news surfaced about a possible historic deal between pop superstar Rihanna and LVMH. Details about the deal are scant, but reports indicate she’ll launch her own fashion line, with sunglasses as a key item.
If the deal is solidified, Rihanna will become the first woman of color to design for LVMH. The luxury fashion conglomerate is home to several world-renowned brands like Louis Vuitton, Berluti, Fendi, and Celine.
Rihanna has made a successful pivot to business with her Fenty Beauty makeup line and Savage x Fenty lingerie line. The former line topped $100 million in sales in its first 40 days on the market and placed inclusion front and center in the beauty industry.
On the music front, Rihanna’s last full-length project was 2016’s ANTI, though she took home a Grammy in 2018 for the song “Loyalty”, her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar. In December, she confirmed via Instagram that her next album would drop later this year.

The weekend’s top film was M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, with $47 million over the MLK holiday weekend, making it the third-best January showing of all time. The thriller serves as a sequel to two of Shyamalan’s films – 2016’s Split and 2000’s Unbreakable.
