The Classics

The trench coat is a classic outerwear piece that every man should own.  The most classic version is of the beige variety and brings to mind great men's style of the 50s and 60s era.  The great thing about the trench is that, even with modern updates to details and colors, it never goes out of style.  The trench shown here is a sharp off-white: perfect to stand out amongst the drab and dreary throughout the fall days.  (Just be sure to keep it cleaned semi-regurlary, as I learned in a stern lecture from my dry cleaner.)  I've paired it with wine-colored chinos and an elongated olive green tee; all subtle shades of pop colors that work together to create a balanced look.  The outfit is finished off with another classic: the saddle shoe.  A little flair in your saddle shoes can add an additional element of detail to your look like the Cole Haan beauties featured here in brown and pink.  Sometimes modern trend works wonders for your look, but you can never go wrong with the classics.
