Mixed Media

Typically, when mass market fashion brands test out new ideas or take a stab at adopting high fashion trends, the results can often be disastrous or terribly watered down. Mixed media garments have been popping up in popular retailers all season with jackets, coats, and vests getting the dual fabric treatment. However, woven shirts seem to be uncharted territory when it comes to this style. Though I was skeptical when first viewing this piece online, Gap's mixed media woven is amazing in so many ways. The cut of the shirt is slim without being restricting and is the perfect length. The cotton stretch fabrication of the sleeves is flattering for the arms (especially for fit guys). And the colorblock design takes it a step above your basic woven. It's ideal for pairing back to dark denim and suede desert boots or sneakers. Don't hide this under a jacket. It's a strong standalone piece that deserves to be seen. I think I'll have to add this to the list of new basics for spring!
