Bowties have always served as more of a source of anxiety for me than sartorial delight. I had to enlist the expertise of a coworker on the one occasion that I've worn a bowtie as an adult. When I was a kid, I had a drawer full of pre-tied clip-on bowties. I've always thought they were cool. But the thought of learning how to tie one just seemed daunting and time-consuming. I know there's probably an endless amount of tutorials out there to help me. After all, I learned how to tie a standard tie by watching a YouTube video. But the art of tying a bowtie just seems like it requires a much more concerted effort. And that's energy I just don't have.
beWilder Ties is the solution to all of my bowtie woes. Founder Dustin Arnold started the brand after he too struggled with perfecting the bowtie knot. He created a simple, three-piece, interchangeable bowtie design. It's beyond easy to assemble, and the beWilder Ties site hosts a quick video tutorial to show you just how easy it is. Because of this simplistic design, you can throw on a bowtie in a matter of minutes and, thanks to the interchangeable feature, you have an endless amount of options for bowtie styles without breaking the bank. This is the bowtie made simple for a generation of men who want to add the formal element to their looks without investing a ton of time or money.
I'm sporting a custom made XL version of the camouflage bowtie here. I kept the other pieces of the look solid to really enhance the tie pattern. The white woven shirt serves as the perfect backdrop while the cognac shawl collar sweater adds warmth and depth to the neutral color scheme. However, if you're not a fan of print ties, an array of solid colors like brown, black, or olive green would work well with this look too.
