Dark Days

All winter long we look forward to summer: afternoons on the beach, the warmth of the sun on our skin, drinks on rooftops and outdoor dining.  But just like any other season, summer has its dark days as well.  What do you wear on those damp, foggy summer mornings?

The morning of this particular shoot was one of those mornings-the threat of rain was imminent, the temp was a bit cooler than to be expected for June, and my plan to shoot another summery shorts look was thwarted.  Like a typical New Yorker, I gravitated toward dark colors.  But I kept my look somewhat lively by choosing a pair of black skinny denim accented by a beautiful light wash.  The minimal distress detail was just enough to help these jeans stick out amongst the gloomy crowd without overshadowing the rest of my look.  My slim-fitted navy cardigan layered with a simple tee was the perfect finishing touch to a simple, yet weather-appropriate look.  As the temperature rises, you can ditch the cardigan and still find yourself in a chic, fitted look.

Just because the summer weather is delayed doesn't mean your summer style has to be.
