Though I now consider myself an authentic New Yorker, I spent a large chunk of my childhood in Florida on the Gulf Coast. Summer was that time of year where I'd spend the evening dining at a seafood restaurant outdoors on an island and cap the night off with a stroll along the beach. Yes, it's true that Manhattan is an island, but it's not quite the same thing. Evening strolls take place along bike paths and concrete walkways. Despite the change in scenery, it's still important to be comfortable. This look is inspired by what I like to wear when I take that metaphorical evening beach stroll.
This lightweight wool v-neck sweater is perfect for those evenings where the humidity isn't too severe. I'm sure the word wool can sound pretty scary during summer months, but the key to rocking this is to find a blend that's so lightweight, you can't tell it apart from cotton. The one I'm wearing here is a bit worn in so it fits loose and hangs off my body just right. A little too loose for work but perfect to throw on for my stroll. Pairing it back to cotton chinos in a summer blue and a pair of nautical-inspired slip ons completes the perfect comfy casual look.
You don't necessarily have to live on the beach to evoke the spirit and essence of beach living.
