With temperatures baking above the 90s (and triple digits in some places), it's hard to think about fall looks. The thought of packing on more layers right now seems near impossible. But the official start of the fall season is only a month away, and believe it or not, it's time to start planning out those mild weather looks.
At Uptown Bourgeois, leather has been a go-to piece to add elements of edge and drama to a look. I've often paired it with other items that soften its look and tone it down for multiple occasions. But this is not leather at its softest. This is full throttle. I had the ultimate honor of having fashion illustrator extraordinaire Donald Robertson custom paint my leather jacket and take it to new heights of cool I didn't know it could reach. With such a strong statement on the jacket itself, the rest of the look needed to be subtle and balanced yet consistent with the badass theme.
The skinny denim shown here is so waxy that it almost looks like leather, giving the look a vibe of high fashion biker. The "Donald Drew Me" tee is basic, but the art takes things to the next level. And the slip on shoe is my trademark touch of elegance, but they could easily be swapped for a pair of crisp, low-top sneakers in a variety of colors.
When you think about fall looks and your approach this year, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Recreate a classic piece and use it to inspire a whole new outfit. You just might find that a little bit of badass is all you need to jump start the new season on the right foot.
